Bamboo Stereo by Soohyuk Im

Bears like it so why not humans? This bamboo inspired stereo looks good (ignore the pink) and thru the natural acoustics of cylindrical objects, sounds good too. But it’s not just nature-ry, it also has every accoutrement a technophile would want. Think wifi enabled, wireless speakers, integrated LED screen, MP3 line in, remote desktop syncing, radio, and yes - cd player.
Bamboo is a unique stereo system designed to help alleviate some of the loneliness in our contemporary lives.
Bamboo implies tranquility and companionship. Bamboo’s aim is not only to supply “soothing sonic satisfaction” but also to provide healing and comfort for people in a chaotic and stressful postmodern world. The built-in LED (Light Emitting Diode) on the side of the speakers produces various forms of sound visualisation. Music is transmitted wirelessly from the main system to the speakers. The main component is comprised of a recharging element, a built-in wireless-LAN WIFI, CD player, radio and MP3 player. This unique combination facilitates saving downloaded music automatically from any computer since it has its own IP address (ipv6).

Day-for-Night, Modular Solar Dress

Day-for-Night is a modular, reconfigurable dress comprised of 448 white circuit boards (although the number changes as the dress can get longer or shorter). Each tile is designed in such a way as to accommodate a solar cell, a RGB LED, or a photocell, and jumper connectors (in the form of 0 Ohm resistors). A control board provides power, communicates with the tiles, and links to a computer via RF. The dress is completely modular both in terms of software and hardware.
