Revolution Revolving Door: Smart Energy Generation

Revolution Revolving Door: Smart Energy Generation » image 1

What a smart eco-friendly idea. The Revolution Door’s concept is similar to a turbine spinning somewhere deep inside a hydroelectric dam or within wind turbine to generate renewable electricity.

The designers at New York City based Fluxxlab studio have come up with an ingenious sustainable energy harvesting idea that makes you wonder why no one else has thought of it before. Their Revolution Door manages to capture otherwise wasted human energy from the revolving doors we all see at various large buildings. This concept is quite similar to a turbine spinning somewhere deep inside a hydroelectric dam or within wind turbine to generate renewable electricity.

Saverclip Power Measuring

Saverclip Power Measuring » image 1

The Saverclip is a clothespin like device that reads electric usage on any power cable it’s clipped onto. Say for example the slow cooker crock pot you leave on all day. How much power is it actually using and would the results make you change your mind to using something faster, like a pressure cooker?

Energy Consciousness (Electric Meter)

Energy Consciousness (Electric Meter) » image 1

It’s a simple device that gives you up to the minute stats on your energy usage and calculates your current electric bill. Designer Delroy Dennisur could have stopped right there but he decided to take it a step further and give you a purdy visual cue. The front panel is laden with LEDs forming a floral pattern. The more energy you use, the more light is emitted as if the florals are growing.

Energy Consumers

Energy Consumers » image 1?

create awareness for the high energy consuming goods consumers buy without thinking about the effects it has on the environment and their wallet. If you buy products that consume a lot, you?re not only going to have to pay for the power/fuel they swallow, but also for the consequencial effects on the environment.
