Berlin’s Magma Architecture

Magma was established in 2003 by Martin Ostermann and Lena Kleinheinz. The Ohio native Ostermann is a former senior architect at Studio Daniel Libeskind. The Denmark-born Kleinheinz is an exhibition designer. Magma is known for its inventive, experimental and experiential approaches to architectural work.

The main feature of Berlin’s Magma Architecture is an alarmingly orange flexible fabric (polyamide-elastan mix) stretched between the walls, ceiling and floor. The fabric is the most visible part of the exhibit, yet it is also the tool with which the viewers can focus on smaller details.

The Oujia Board Slide Guitar by Nicholas Holcomb is a unique fusion of a guitar and table design.

The resulting design is a fun musical piece of furniture that will liven up your living room.

Famous Cognac brand Courvoisier has created an intruiging limited edition collection of customized iPhones, Curves, and iPods.

Courvoisier is going all out on their new Exclusif Cognac! Including a multi-city tour (LA, SF, Houston, Miami, NY) this spring to show off an exclusive line designed by urban/skate brand LRG, inspired by Courvoisier… including a Napoleon Rubberband Jacket.

Made of white EPDM rubber and cork, this soft tub was designed to be a simple option for outdoor fun, healing or washing up. Simply hook up the umbilical cord to your water source and the tub fills from the bottom up. When done, just unplug the hose.

Royal College of Art graduate (UK) Cristian Zuzunaga has devised a fabric based on a ‘pixel’ concept, which is being produced by Danish manufacturer Kvadrat and sold through Moroso.

These blankets from the Bedtime Stories Project have a cute story on them and consist of layers that you can peel off to reveal more layers of the tale.

Once upon a time there was a blanket. This blanket had several sheets containing a traditional bedtime story. Each “page” adds a layer of linen making you warmer (or cooler) and comfier hopefully guiding you and your partner into a pleasant night’s sleep.

designer Simon Joyau created an origami inspired chair simply called the “Paper Chair”. Made entirely of recyclable plastics, the Paper Chair becomes a little rocker when tipped over - sort of an abstract horesy for your kids to enjoy. It’s just a concept but not anything far outside the realm of immediate possibility.

The Dharma Lounge is made from five words: stand, breathe, forget, acknowledge, and observe. These words represent an underlying order for believers. Since the word Dharma translates into support, it only makes sense that a chair was designed using these elements.
